Logan Lake Students Take Action

Logan Lake Secondary students took part in the Blanket Exercise on Orange Shirt Day. Within the exercise, a highlighted pro-active step towards the respectful engagement with Indigenous people is the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Canada was one of the last countries to sign the Declaration. To empower the students and to help make sure the Bill is passed, AEW Trish Rainville and Deb Endean's grade sevens sent a request to encourage MP Dan Albas to vote in favour of the Bill.

"Our leaders need to show the way, but no matter how many deals and agreements they make, it is in our daily conversations and interactions that our success as a nation in forging a better place, will ultimately be measured. It is what we say to and about each other in public and in private that we need to look at changing."

Honourable Justice Murray Sinclair, Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Canada
