Following the Board’s decision on school reconfigurations and its subsequent approval of the 2010/2011 operating budget, the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Terry Sullivan presented a reorganization plan for the district. The plan had five objectives:
The reorganization plan has reduced the number of Assistant Superintendents from 4 to 3 with the retirement of Mr. Ross Spina, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education. Mrs. Marilyn McLean will move from Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services to Assistant Superintendent in charge of one group of K to 12 schools. Mr. Karl deBruijn will move from Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education to Assistant Superintendent in charge of a second group of K to 12 schools. Assistant Superintendent Dr. John Churchley will continue to lead the Human Resources Department.
A new position of District Principal will support Leadership and Instruction. Mr. Bill Hamblett, principal of Valleyview Secondary School, will take on this position for the 2010/2011 school year.
Attached is an outline of the proposed plan along with changes in assignments for the Assistant Superintendents and role of the District Principal.
