Arts in the High Country Festival

Arts in the High Country Festival – January 12, 2015 and March 2 - 5, 2015

Arts in the High Country Festival is a 4-day event held at the Sagebrush Theatre which celebrates arts excellence in the Kamloops/Thompson School District.  Within the fun and educational atmosphere, participants are inspired to grow musically and dramatically and to perform to the best of their abilities.  A non-competitive environment with groups presenting in the areas of band, choir, drama, dance, and classroom instrumental, the students receive direct and honest feedback from recognized adjudicators.  The festival is a place we can learn from each other, perform on a professional stage, and share our arts experiences.

Originally solely a music festival for the secondary students, this event has grown and changed and now includes all arts areas.  The lobby of the Sagebrush Theatre will host an Art Show featuring art work by secondary art students through our school district.  Twenty-five different schools, both elementary and secondary will be represented in the performing arts while guest adjudicators, will be listening to the groups and encouraging the students.  This year a Senior Band Festival Night has also been added on January 13, 2014 to accommodate semester scheduling.

All sessions are open to the public including the evening sessions which will feature the more senior music students of our school district.  Over the years, this festival has become an important part of arts programs as it provides the opportunity to celebrate excellence in every performer.
