Battle of the Books 2017

Battle of the Books 2017

On the afternoon of April 20th, students, parents and staff gathered to watch the exciting final round of "battles" for Grades 3 to 7 students at the Henry Grube Education Centre. Congratulations to all of the participants who worked very hard this year. The following winning school teams took the district trophies: Grades 3/4, Arthur Stevenson; Grades 5, Lloyd George; Grades 6/7, David Thompson.

Battle of the Books is a Kamloops/Thompson reading motivation program, designed to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading and broaden reading interests. First introduced in our district in 1988 by teacher-librarians Faith Bailey and Fawn Knox, Battle of the Books continues to be coordinated by chair Faith Bailey and school teacher-librarians. The teacher-librarian selection committee is already busy gathering book titles for next year’s battle. Stay tuned for the 2018 Battle of the Books title announcements in June!
