Canada Book Week inspires reading and writing

Sylvia has the unique gift of bringing fiction books alive with exciting writer's workshops and presentations. She presented to over 1,500 Kamloops/Thompson, Salmon Arm and Kelowna students from May 5th-May 12th. The strategies Sylvia Gunnery shared have been developed over her many years as an author and as a teacher of writing. She also explained the story creation process-how stories develop from the first spark of an idea and that the writing process takes time and much revision. TD Canada Book Week is the largest and most important national celebration of Canadian children's books. Since 1977 thousands of children and adults have taken part in the one week annual event. Over 30 authors and illustrators tour communities across the country sharing the delights of Canadian children's books with children.
