Community Starts Here!

On November 6, 2017 the staff and students from Logan Lake Secondary hosted the rural School Board Meeting. During this evening we had a curriculum spotlight open house where community members and board members could circulate through the school to see some of the projects our students have been working on this year. It was great to see everyone trying food samples and engaging in deep conversations about student art projects. The PAC helped by cooking the food for our free community BBQ which went off without a hitch. We were able to open the dinner with a wonderful performance from our elementary school choir. Once dinner was complete we started the Board Meeting. We had about twenty student speakers ranging from grade five through twelve. Each group presented their class projects that tied into our common theme of “Community.” It was great to see a huge range of projects from grade five Simple Machines all the way to grade twelve Mental Wellness assignments. We concluded the night with the remainder of the School Board Meeting. We were very pleased with the great turnout. I believe we were able to demonstrate the importance and strength of community in our classrooms, our school and in our village of Logan Lake. Thank you to all of the staff, students, community members and administration that helped make this night possible.
