Parents as Career Coaches with Brent Calvert

This two session, four hour (total) interactive workshop is designed to help parents of grade 9–12 students become more effective career development allies for their children. They are introduced to the concepts of coaching and given practical tools and research skills to help them as they coach their youth.

In the workshops, parents are guided through exercises that:

• Explore values placed on / communicated about jobs, occupations and careers
• Update current labour market dynamics and future employment trends
• Highlight the impact of parents and their role in the career journey, including clarification for understanding and improved communications, identifying and aligning interests and values, skills and strengths, developing career clusters, acquisition pathways, and an explore list
• Align parents as co-researchers, connectors, supporters and coaches

When: Thursday, November 2nd from 6:30pm – 8:30pm and Thursday, November 16th from 6:30pm – 8:30pm
