Raise a Reader Day

Annual Raise-a-Reader Campaign, in support of literacy!

On Tuesday morning, September 26th, remember to put a few extra coins in your pocket for Raise-a-Reader Day happening in Kamloops, Barriere, Chase, Clearwater and Logan Lake.

More than 150 volunteers will be trading special-edition copies of Kamloops This Week for donations to literacy. 100% of the money collected will stay in the community to help fund local family literacy programs. Volunteers will be visible on city streets, at high pedestrian traffic areas, bus and coffee stops and at these schools: Aberdeen, Summit, McGowan, Pacific Way, South Sa-Hali, Beattie, Dufferin, Marion Schilling, Dallas, RL Clemitson, Juniper, Rayleigh, Kamloops School of the Arts, Lloyd George, Pinantan, AE Perry, Kay Bingham, Parkcrest, Bert Edwards, Westmount, Arthur Stevenson, David Thompson, Raft River, Clearwater Secondary, Haldane, Chase Secondary, Barriere Elementary and Barriere Secondary.

In Kamloops, the funds raised will support the two literacy groups KELLI (Kamloops Early Language and Literacy Initiative) and LinK (Literacy in Kamloops) that provide many free literacy programs in our community.

Make a Donation and Make a Difference. Literacy matters!
