United Way honors Michelle Davies of Chase
Michelle Davies was instrumental in the proposal to have a Friday Night Youth group in the community of Chase. Michelle came up with a detailed plan and presented it to the United Way board to secure funding to make this project happen. On Friday nights, students from grade six to ten were able to hang out at the school from 6-10 pm. Students played billiards, watched a movie, participated in sports activities in the gymnasium, played xbox 360 or just relaxed with friends in a safe environment. This has been a real benefit to our community and participation ranges from 20 to 40 kids each week.
The Friday Night Youth group started last year and has been such a success, a second supervisor has been hired to help. The United Way recently honored Michelle and presented her with additional funding for this second year.
