The Board of Education of School District No. 73 advocates a strong public education system that provides quality education for all students.
The Student Support Services personnel in School District No. 73 (Kamloops/Thompson) are dedicated to working collaboratively with famililes, community agencies and school personnel to meet the academic, physical and emotional needs of students with special needs. We believe that positive relationships are the key to a strong support team and we encourage parents and students to be involved in the decision-making process and educational planning.
The school and district staff work together to offer students with special educational needs a broad and effective spectrum of programs and services, presented in the most enabling educational environment. We have programs at both the school and district level.
We strive to look at students holistically and to allocate support to students based on their needs, not solely on their placement in a ministry category. It is our mission to promote inclusive classroom environments where the needs of all students can be met positively and meaningfully.
